Insight Signal’s selected by AI4Cities to build next generation Mobility Digital Twin
Insight Signals has been selected to take part of phase 1 of AI4Cities. an EU-funded Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) project, aiming to help cities accelerate their transition towards carbon neutrality. The project is looking for AI solutions that can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the fields of mobility and energy, two domains responsible for 82% of all greenhouse gas emissions in European cities.
Insight Signals’ Twin4Impact solution is a next generation user-centered Mobility Digital Twin, focused on users’ behavior, their mobility choices, and the quantification of resulting CO2 emissions at micro and macro scale. The solution would enable city stakeholders to better value new projects’ CO2 reduction impact, to increase their scaling potential, and more generally to provide cities with a holistic view of how their initiatives contribute to their carbon neutrality goals.
Insight Signals was one of 21 AI companies selected across Europe for the mobility lot, among a list of near 100 bidders, following a thorough evaluation by the AI4Cities Buyers Group. As one of the ‘winning’ suppliers, Insight Signals will now participate in the project’s Solution Design Phase to further develop the proposed solution in accordance with the input provided by the AI4Cities Buyers Group.

Kaisa Sibelius, coordinator of the AI4Cities project at Forum Virium, notes that “the selected solutions address the varied challenges of the participating cities and highlight the potential of AI to contribute to more sustainable cities in many different way.”
Mart Brauer, project manager for the city of Tallinn explained, “We hope that the solutions under development will address and eventually solve several problem areas such as underutilized data sources, poor real-time traffic analysis, lack of truly multimodal mobility platforms and as a result reduce CO2 levels in city hotspots“.

AI4Cities is an EU-funded Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) consortium, composed of six buying cities, including lead procurer Forum Virium Helsinki (representing the city of Helsinki), Cap Digital (representing Paris Region), the city of Amsterdam, the city of Copenhagen, the city of Stavanger and the city of Tallinn. These six cities and regions have developed ambitious strategies and policy plans to become carbon neutral by – at latest – 2050.
